First, there was "Meredith Richards, Maurice Cox, and Kevin Lynch"
and "Jon Bright, Elizabeth Fortune, and John Pfaltz." Then, there was "Jon Bright, Elizabeth Fortune, and Meredith Richards", and
"Jon Bright and Elizabeth Fortune",
and John Pfaltz.
There was of course "Independents and Democrats for Pfaltz" (some of whom say they will also vote for Maurice Cox and Kevin Lynch).
On Park Street, one also sees signs of Independent candidate "Kevin Cox" posted with "Bright and Fortune" signs.
On former Charlottesville Republican chair Tom Hill's fence, we find a Kevin Cox sign covering Pfaltz.
I have seen signs around town for "Maurice Cox and Kevin Lynch" without "Meredith Richards" and, if you will believe it,
signs for "Meredith Richards" paired with "John Pfaltz". This does not mean the candidates themselves are running as a ticket. It does suggest, however, that there may be some ticket splitting in this round of elections. And now, from the editorial staff of The Daily Progress, comes support for "Meredith Richards, Jon Bright, and Maurice Cox". Or is it John Pfaltz or Kevin Lynch? In the April 30, 2000 editorial of The Daily Progress, Meredith Richards, Jon Bright, and Maurice Cox receive top billing, followed by John Pfaltz and Kevin Lynch. The Daily Progress editorial ends by saying "Should voters choose to reject Maurice Cox, they might consider one of these men [i.e. John Pfaltz or Kevin Lynch] instead (Editorial, The Daily Progress, April 30, 2000).
There are also other candidates, including Stratton Salidis (I), who writes "from what I hear, one can construct a "Salidis" out of two "Richards", change "democracts" to "democracy" and convert a standard Democrat bumper sticker to one with my preferred slate of candidates on it.
And there is write-in candidate Blair Hawkins. The choice is up to you!
