Paul Goldman has been in the game at a higher level and a lot longer than I. But ....

What the polling suggests to me is that Tom is not really trailing Robert Hurt--he's trailing "anyone but Perriello." And the dissatisfaction in the electorate is not so much with him as with national issues, real and imagined.

So a strategy that deals with local issues and makes Senator Hurt a specific person can only help. And this seems to be what the Perriello campaign is doing.
