George,

Mr. Cheek makes a valuable and important point of consideration for right wing Republicans.

If God chooses nations and Presidents, surely God chooses ball teams and surely God has not chosen the Boston Red Sox for some time. The odds that The Patriots would win the Super Bowl, break the consecutive game record AND the Red Sox would win the World Series all in the same year are astronomically high. If you throw in the eclipse the odds are probably greater than any mathemetician could research and calculate.

That all three would coincide with the Presidential election and that John Kerry is from Massachusetts makes for even more unlikely odds. If Bush is God's candidate, how does he reconcile these other signs. Does God have a sense of humor? Is God trying to pull one over on us? Has he made a deal with Karl Rove?

Peace,

Joe Clancy (electronic mail, October 29, 2004)
