In the New York Times of March 26, 2004, James Barron explains that "of the 450 or so employees on the Steinway Sons payroll, Peter B. Goodrich is the one responsible for handling the pianists, not the pianos. Unlike the company's other vice presidents, he is based not at the factory in Astoria, Queens, but at Steinway's lush outpost down the block from Carnegie Hall."

This is the latest in a series by Barron on the Steinway company and the making of a grand piano. For additional information from the Loper website about grand pianos and a listing of the articles in this series, please see A Piano in the Parlor.
