George:

Is anyone else as outraged as I am about the 9 hours of daily hateful far right-wing invective on WINA? They have now added Michael Savage to the evening slot in addition to the standard daytime fare of Neal Boortz and Sean Hannity. How does the hate and misinformation that they spew contribute to the greater good of our community?

I have communicated with Brad Eure on three occasions during the past year, imploring him to offer some balance by adding at least one progressive talk show to the daily programming at WINA (And there are many good ones available. See www.ieamericaradio.com.) He assured me that he would "look into it." It appears that his response was to replace wacky Laura Ingram with Savage, one of the most hateful, homophobic, racist, and misogynistic talking heads on the airwaves!

I am seriously considering undertaking either a petition drive or letter writing campaign that targets both the local and national businesses that advertise on WINA during the nine hours of right-wing talk each day. If advertisers fear a boycott for continuing to support this unbalanced daily stream of hate speech, they will likely either pull their ads or put pressure on Brad Eure to add some balance to his daily programming.

If anyone is interested in helping with this effort, or adding their name or support to the effort, they can email me at jcf48@earthlink.net.

In the immortal words of Howard Beale in "Network", "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore."

Thanks.
