American Woodcock 2008

American Woodcock, originally uploaded by gloperflicker.

The majority of a Woodcock’s diet consists of earthworms, insects and plant food. Classified as a shorebird, this Woodcock would not ordinarily be found on a sawhorse but instead in thickets and shrubs.

This photograph of a dead Woodcock was taken in Charlottesville, Virginia on March 20, 2008.
