The Confederate Battle Flag as Seen from the Charlottesville Towers at North First Street - Charlottesville, Virginia

Who knew there was a business displaying a confederate battle flag in town? Perhaps everyone but me.

Folks I talked with said it was over by Allied Concrete on Harris Street. Well, I dropped by Allied, but there was no confederate flag to be found.

The Confederate Battle Flag Fenced In

Finally, on a second trip to Harris Street, I learned that it was at Quality Welding, across from Pampered Pets.

The Confederate Battle Flag was adopted after the confusion caused by the commanders not being able to distinguish their troops from those of the enemy, as the "Stars and Bars" was so similar to the "Stars and Stripes."

The Confederate Battle Flag Flies Proudly at Quality Welding, Inc.

Lewis Dickerson says, "I've been displaying the Confederate flag at our place of business (Quality Welding, Inc) for approximately 10 years, in recognition of our Southern Heritage and Way of Life" (fax, August 30, 2001).
