George, I recently read correspondence from a married French woman reacting to a comment from an American male. He apparently was inquiring as to whether French women shaved their armpits! .... Her reaction was simply,"Americans can be pretty bizarre, they debate the public homocide of another human being (McVeigh) like it is a soccer score and seriously concern themselves with the "ugliness" of where human hair grows on women's bodies!" Personally, I don't have a high regard for Timothy McVeigh, he killed human beings out of anger, hate and vengeance ... only he can rationalize the reasoning behind his action, calling the loss of innocent human beings "collateral damage" does not endear him to any reasonable human being, nor does the "sane" execution of McVeigh in any way pardon the offense or lighten the burden of the loss to the families and loved ones of the 167 victims ... in my thinking, it adds to the tragedy. For McVeigh it ends, when the needle enters his arm. For the victims, in spite of words like "closure" etc. they must live forever with the tragedy. I think it was St Francis that said, "God creates Man,,,man creates sin" ,,,,, I think society should hate the sin and let the Man live on! Harry Tenney (electronic mail, May 8, 2001).
