Hi George, Please see the following article regarding a recent poll by Zogby showing majority support for the old Mississippi flag (the one with confederate battle emblem in it). Note the "damn the Yankees" argument and the "no company wants to locate here anyway, so don't change the flag just to help economic development" attitutde of the supporters of the confederate battle emblem flag. This is quite a place. By the way, the man who uses the word "colored" to describe African American Mississippians is from Laurel -- a place that not only holds the distinction as the home of Klansman Sam Bowers, it is also located in the one Mississippi county that refused to secede with the rest of Mississippi in 1861. Best from the Deep South -- It's quite a place. Matt Dalbey, Ph.D. (electronic mail, February 5, 2001)
