Presidential Election 2016: Goode for Trump

In 2012, as the presidential election neared, a concerned Donald Trump tweeted,

@realDonaldTrump
The Republicans must get Virgil Goode out of the race in Virginia. He will take votes away from @MittRomney.

The state Republicans did try to keep the Constitution Party off the ballot (alleging fraud), but were unsuccessful. In any event, the results in Virginia were:

Barack H. Obama, Democrat 51.1%
Willard M. Romney, Republican 47.2%
Gary Johnson, Libertarian 0.8%
Virgil Hamlin Goode, Jr., Constitution 0.3%
Dr. Jill Stein, Green, 0.2%
Some of us recall that immigration has been a key concern for Goode--he has wanted a big fence along the southern border for a long, long time. He is still a member of the Executive Committee of the Constitution Party, but earlier this month, he endorsed Trump's presidential candidacy. And the other day, it was announced that he will chair the Trump campaign in the Fifth District.

In a prepared release, Goode says, "..., Mr. Trump is the only candidate who can defeat Hillary Clinton. Millions of Republican voters stayed home in 2008 and 2012 because they felt the GOP represented the interests of Wall Street rather than those of working Americans. Donald Trump is the best candidate to connect with voters who feel disaffected from both parties."
