George,
Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, speaking February 18 at a fund-raising dinner for Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker said, "I don't believe, and I know this is a horrible thing to say, but I do not believe that the President loves America. He doesn't love you. And he doesn't love me ... He was not brought up the way you were brought up and I was brought up, through love to love country." Later, according to NYDailyNews, "He claimed Obama has been influenced by Communism and Socialism." He added,"I don't see the President as being particular a product of African-American society." He said he isn't racist because Obama was "brought up by a white mother and is 'basically white.'" Of course, we know Obama's father was a black African and in America as little as one-sixteenth or less of black blood makes you black. Obama is black. He says he's black and Americans say he's black. Many blacks have white ancestors. This writer's paternal grandfather, born in slavery, had a white father. If the truth be told, during slavery some white women were mothers of slaves. President Obama has demonstrated his unswerving allegiance to America. Since he became President in 2009 no other person and no other President has been subjected to the vicious attacks on his character, patriotism or being an American. Yet, since becoming President his allegiance to America and leadership as President and Commander-in-Chief have advanced America toward "a more perfect Union." He has withstood every attack and the vicious lies told about him. On behalf of African Americans in particular and all Americans who respect President Obama, I denounce Giuliani for having made the vicious statement about President Obama 'not loving America' which I find to not only be offensive, but racist. The year Giuliani was born in 1944 blacks were being lynched in America and dying on the battlefield during World War II. According to the Archieves at Tuskegee Institute 3,445 blacks were lynched between 1882-1968. I would think it was people of Giuliani's ilk or mentality who were the lynchers. Blacks are among the most loyal Americans. I call upon Giuliani to apologize to President Obama and the American people for his slanderous comments about President Obama.
