Jonathan Stevens released the following statement on Todd Divers's announcement today of his candidacy for Commissioner of the Revenue:

I welcome Todd to the race. Todd used to serve with me on the Charlottesville Democratic Executive Committee until he resigned a few years ago, where he always provided a different perspective. I consider him a friend.

Although he deprecates his own skill and recent training, he is a skilled politician who no one would take lightly as a candidate. I expect this campaign to be a spirited, friendly competition, and I think all Charlottesville Democrats around the city would agree that there is no place in our party for negative attacks on candidates or their idealistic young staffers.
