George, The newest estimate of dollars to be raised by billionaires and millionaires is upwards of 1.9 BILLION dollars.supporting right wing republicans--not just those opposing Democrats but many in the GOP not seen as CONSERVATIVE ENOUGH (Dick Lugar, Orrin Hatch, Bob Bennett, for example) It is also estimated that corporations are sitting on TRILLIONS of dollars, refusing to hire workers on the lame excuse, "waiting to see what regulations may be reduced for their benefit" and/or "beneficial changes in the tax code for their benefit" "an abundance of caution in these tough economic times." Senator Mitch McConnell summed it all up when he said the focus of the Republicans was to assure Obama was a "one term president." Clearly the super pacs are tied in with corporate interests, so McConnell's game plan dovetails neatly with this clan of plutocrats and oligarchs. The question I wish would be raised by the Democrats is, "do you think these efforts of billionaires and the corporate elite are all to benefit the 99%"? It's worth thinking about.
The 99% who bear the biggest actual tax burdens relative to income? Where a secretary pays a higher percentage of every dollar needed just to survive than the millionaire CEO who employs him/her? Tragically, the billions to be spent to get an empty (expensive) suit named Romney and his ilk could bring the nation to the dream of the oligarchs to have it all! I know I am "preaching to the choir" but it is my own personal catharsis.
