George, Rey Barry has a point. Many Democrats are underwhelmed with Barack Obama's actions and achievements to date. A caveat: Democrats presented an alternative to Jimmy Carter in Ted Kennedy. Carter won the primary, but a bruised Carter lost the election. We certainly do not want a Republican to win--especially a Tea Party Republican. Better build the pressure on Obama to LEAD forcefully. FDR is a model with his CCC, WPA etc. If we had the moneys we have spent on attacking Iraq and Afghanistan, we would not have a debt crisis. But no one even suggests defense cuts, We need our DEFENSE industries in Virginia and other states to produce items for DEFENSE. I do not think our DEFENSE industries should be used to ATTACK other countries. Remember our esteemed President Eisenhower, a war hero, warned us to "Beware the military-industrial complex. And he was a Republican. Is anyone listening? Gene Ecton Davis (Electronic mail, September 1, 2011)
