I watched the Obama speech in great anticipation and was greatly disappointed. It seems that he made at least two major mistakes:

On energy policy he bounced it back to the Congress to come up with policy -- the same sort of leadership style that damn near doomed health care reform.

And, he characterized what "he" would find unacceptable, and not what the American people would want, which gives Republicans license to object to anything he would, in turn, find acceptable.
