The Charlottesville Democratic Committee chose Jim Nix and Tom Vandever to be their new leaders at its meeting on January 14 at Buford Middle School. Sherry Kraft will serve as Vice-Chairman. After his selection, Nix said, "I am very excited to be taking on the job of co-chair with Tom Vandever. The Charlottesville Democratic party is strong and vibrant."

Jennifer Brown will continue as party Treasurer and Sarah Buckley will serve as Secretary. Vice Chairmen and precinct leaders were also chosen at the meeting.

Party leaders stated that a priority goal is to increase the diversity of the city committee. The group will increase its efforts to recruit more minority members and more young people.
