Team,

Today the Senior Statesmen of Virginia will hold its forum between Rep. Perriello and the Independent candidate. We appreciate the hard work that the Senior Statesmen organization does and we also appreciate its invitation. With that said, the Senior Statesmen Forum organized the debate without regard for the viability of the individual candidates and without seeking our input on this critical issue. We notified the group in mid-July that we wouldn't be attending. Nevertheless, some media are under the mis-impression that Robert will be at this debate in Charlottesville today -- Wednesday, August 11th.

During the dozens of public forums and debates that our campaign has engaged in since last year, we have made it clear that this election is about two very different ideologies: common-sense principles that grow our economy and create jobs vs. job-killing policies and out-of-control government spending that our incumbent Congressman continues to vote for repeatedly. We have consistently offered and remain committed to debating these policies one on one with our viable opponent, Rep. Perriello.

I'm happy to announce that the Albemarle League of Women Voters has offered to hold a debate in October, which we have agreed to. Robert is looking forward to debating Rep. Perriello one-on-one. Unfortunately, Rep. Perriello has yet to agree to this, but we're hopeful.

I know campaigns are exhausting and I know how hard each and every one of you is working. We appreciate your help and we appreciate your continued support. On November 2nd, we are going to beat Nancy Pelosi, Rep. Perriello and all of their Washington special-interest groups. We will restore fiscal responsibility and job creation to our government, but we can't do it without you.

Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail.

Campaign Manager (Electronic mail, August 11, 2010)
