From Marta Cook, Campaign Manager for David Slutzky

The Slutzky campaign is off to a strong start as we work hard to reelect David to the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors. David sees this as an opportunity to meet with his constituents and hear about their concerns for the County's future. He also sees it as a chance to talk about his innovative practical solutions to some of the more complex problems the County has been facing, such as the need for better transportation infrastructure and the need for more employment opportunities.

So we have been fortunate to have some our supporters in the district host meet and greets for their neighbors so they can meet and talk to David. We also already have a very strong corps of volunteers who have been out knocking on a record number of doors for a local race like ours in the County.

Even though we're off to a good start, a lot of work needs to be done because David is in a very tough reelection fight. There are some people in the County who do not like David's willingness to take a stand on issues that are controversial. That is why we need to have a very active group of supporters who understand how critical having a progressive voice on the Board like David's is for the future of the County. We need significant financial support in order to compete with David's challenger, who owns his own printing press. We want to be able to send out multiple mailers to David's constituents, showing them the facts about David's voting history and what he's been doing for them as their Supervisor. We also need more supporters to volunteer to host meet and greets in their homes, so David has an opportunity to have meaningful discussions with interested voters.
