When Mr. McDonnell, as he inevitably will, says he will cut taxes (which all Republicans say they will do) I hope Mr. Deeds asks him, in that case, what state and local programs are you proposing to cut? Police? Fire fighters? College administrators? Teachers? Will the traffic lights still work? Please list them. And if Mr. McDonnell says, as he inevitably will, that, to compensate for the cut taxes, he will make government more "efficient," I hope Mr. Deeds says that the only way you can do this is to fire and/or lay off people and have someone else do their job as well as the jobs of two or three others.
