Email from Fred Hudson, July 20, 2009 Tonight, I resigned my position as Chair of the Albemarle County Democratic Committee. My reason was that in June, I was elected to be the 2nd Vice Chair of the Democratic Party of Virginia, and that position is going to require considerable time and concentration on my part to perform at the level of expectation that the position requires. Therefore, my occupying the chairmanship position for Albemarle County would, in my opinion, no longer be proper as the election that we face this November is just too important to have a "part time" chair. I have enjoyed greatly the position that I have held for almost 6 years, and I appreciate so much the support that you have given me and the ACDC as we have tried to build the party and establish a winning tradition. It has been an honor to be so engaged with the community, and I thank you. The good news is that tonight Valerie L'Herrou (vlherrou@ntelos.net) was elected by the Steering Committee and in accordance with the By Laws to be the Chair of the Albemarle County Democratic Committee to fill the unexpired term. She has been involved with the party for sometime, a local lawyer, and committed to the process of building the party. As good Democrats, I hope you will share with me the confidence that I have in Valerie as she begins her new position. I hope you will support her as you have my efforts. With all of us working together and doing what we can to assist Valerie as she leads the party, the future of the Democratic Party here locally has never been brighter. Again, thank you so much for your confidence and support of me, and I look forward to seeing you at the various functions in support of the County Party and as we work to elect a great group of Democrats this fall, and in the future. Fred
