George,
I am hoping, like Wilder's gubernatorial contest against a widely disliked incompetent, Marshall Coleman ... will enable Barack Obama to be seen as a highly qualified and competent candidate against a man whose only credentials seem to be continued support of an obscene war. McCain has managed to backtrack on virtually every bit of legislation he supported or opposed, earning the title "maverick" way back when. For example, he strongly opposed Bush's tax cuts on both economic and moral grounds ... now he wants them to be made permanent. Hillary won't go, so the argument is moot. Her negatives grow on a daily basis, her chances diminish at the same pace, but, I almost get the feeling that she doesn't really care about the fate of the Democratic Party, it's as if she is saying, "if I go down, you come with me".Personally, she lost me many pages back! The argument that the "storm" between Obama and Clinton is strengthening McCain is overblown...I think McCain, especially if he picks Romney for VP..will suffer the fate of Bob Dole ... he has little to recommend him.
