The city schools seem to be in a crisis situation. Principals and Assistant Principals at Johnson, Greenbriar, Walker, Buford and CHS are retiring, leaving or being reassigned. The city powers that be are having to beat the bushes to get people to run for at large school board seats.

Private schools are growing by leaps and bounds in the Charlottesville area. A new all boys middle school is opening this fall in Crozet!

Perhaps it is time for the two school systems to take a lesson from Fairfax City and Fairfax County and merge. It will bring out the best in both systems and heal some of the weaknesses.
