George, In a recent article in the magazine Vanity Fair, it describes GW Bush in his personal life as a sore loser, always making excuses, for example, as to why he lost a tennis match or a round of golf: "just one more set"--"let's go another nine holes"--anything to keep from losing! It was never his fault, "just an unlucky break." This "wait till next year," "double or nothing" mentality is tolerable in his private affairs, but he is applying it to the affairs of state! Clearly Iraq is a nightmarish debacle--and sending in 21,500 more human beings is just an extension of "give me one more chance." Every other of his "surges" has failed. Now, it appears that Bush is trying for a "trifecta"--after failing in Afghanistan and Iraq, it appears Iran is next on his "hit list." He is convinced he'll win this one! Writer Sy Hersh, opines that there is little we can do but wait him out for two more years! Hersh states, "he listens to no one--the people, the Congress, the military, he truly believes he has a mission and he is right!" Every dictator who has ever lived suffered the same delusions in his thinking, only he could see the dangers and threats, foreign and domestic.Bush and Cheney and their sycophantic minions fall into this category. Unfortunately, the consequences of this maniacal obsession create great dangers for the United States and the citizenry. I disagree with the Hersh conclusion--the Congress cannot be allowed to become the Reichstag of the 21st century--the people must exert extraordinary pressure on our representatives to stop this madness. It has become "when in the course of human events it becomes necessary...." And, government "of the people, by the people, for the people" be the rallying cry!
