Press Release from Satyendra Huja campaign: "Satyendra Singh Huja, retired Director of Planning for the city, announced his candidacy for the city council election in November, 2007. He will seek the Democratic Party nomination for the Charlottesville city council. He indicated that he brings a proven record of service to the Community . He has experience and expertise to find creative solutions for cities problems and seek new opportunities for improving the community. He indicated that he can make a positive difference in the quality of Charlottesville community. Mr. Huja said he will work towards: protecting and enhancing neighborhoods and the environment; promote balanced transportation, propose programs for affordable housing for all, and seek quality education for each and every child in our school system. He also indicated that he would support reduction of property tax rate to reflect some of the assessment increases Mr. Huja indicated that he is excited about the possibility of community service at policy level. He will be proactive in dealing with community needs and protecting the quality of life and environment of this community. Mr. Huja has been a resident of the city of Charlottesville for 34 years. He is married and has two grown sons who went through the city school system.
