George, I also am sticking with Al Weed. We need a PROGRESSIVE Democrat not a MODERATE Democrat or Republican lite candidate--we have plenty of them in Washington already. We need to get someone to stand up to the Virgil, not be the same as him. I know where Al stands on the issues and that is comforting to me--that I know if he gets elected he won't go and change once he gets to Washington. And that if I were up in Washington I would think Al would actually visit with his constituents rather than pass us off to an aide. How refreshing that would be. But Virgil is entrenched (after ALL, he gives hams to his constituents!). We have to try. No matter how many election cycles it takes. But I think with the current climate of corruption and incompetence surrounding the Republicans, the time might be right for a Democratic upset. In any case I will work hard to try and get some union money for Al's campaign once he wins the primary. Jan Cornell (electronic mail, March 31, 2006)
