George, The Registrar's office has begun the analysis of individual voting patterns in the May 2nd election. They have found the following "single shot" patterns in the City Council race. Rob Schilling, as expected, received a great number of "single shots" -- 1362. Dave Norris had 249 and Julian Taliaferro had 121. In all, 1732 of the 5993 voters in the May 2nd election voted for only one Council candidate -- 23% of all voters voted only for Schilling, 4% only for Norris and 2% only for Taliaferro. It might be noted that Dave Norris would have been the top vote getter even if there had been no "single shot" voting. Dave received 3,947 votes and Julian received 3,745 including "single shots". If all who voted for Dave had also voted for Julian and vise versa (no "single shoting"), Dave would have received 4068 votes to Julian's 3994. David RePass (electronic mail, June 9, 2006) P.S. For those who are pondering how I computed the data in the last
sentence, take the 3,947 votes for Dave and add the 121 who "single
shoted" for Julian = 4068. Take the 3,745 who voted for Julian and
add the 249 who "single shoted" for Dave = 3994.
