George,

As the convention for the Democratic nominee in the 5th District nears, it is time that all Democrats get behind one truly progressive Democrat that will help to change the tone in Washington, and that candidate is without a doubt Al Weed. Like Jan Cornell said in a previous letter we need someone that will stand up to Virgil Goode, and Al Weed will do that. I know where Al stands on the issues, and I know that Al will do what is right for the people of the 5th congressional district as opposed to folding to the needs of scandal-ridden lobbyist.

I cannot say what Mr. Ewert believes or where he stands on the issues, other then the fact that he would have voted yes on the version of the Patriot Act that takes away our civil rights and that might be unconstitutional. We do not need a moderate Democrat running against Virgil or in this seat, we have too many of them in Washington already. We need someone that will stand up for the rights of everyone here in the 5th District and Al Weed is that person.

I urge everyone to get behind Al in the next few weeks and support a true progressive.
