George,

With all due respect to Mr. Caravati, comparing the quality of penmanship on your website to the future chalkboard is hardly apples to apples. Far be it from me to defend the many liberals with whom I routinely needle and argue with on this site, but the level of discourse is civil. (except when I got Mr. Borgmeyer f**king mad at me.) Sorry I couldn't resist.

I know I'm starting to sound like a bit of an elitist, but the folks who post on your site rarely use profanity because it cheapens their point. I'm doubting we will see a repeat performance of this on the chalkboard. Now … if I'm wrong and the chalkboard is even half as provocative and informative as this site I'll vote for Hillary Clinton.

And, I'll add that I know that someday I'll walk by that chalkboard and see something quite beautiful; I'm just hoping it won't be laced with profanity.

Tyler Sewell (electronic mail, May 24, 2005)

Editor's Note: The use of "f**king" in a letter to the editor does not constitute an instance of profanity on this site.
