George,

I am very disappointed in Creigh Deed's yes vote for an amendment to restrict marriage.

The Commonwealth of Virginia has no compelling interest to deny unmarried individuals the right to set up their personal households the way they choose.

The US constitution guarantees the separation of church and state. Marriage is a religious mater not a government concern. This anti individual rights amendment undermines the US constitution.

Please reconsider your vote, Creigh.

Respectfully,

Joan Schatzman (electronic mail, February 10, 2005)
