Dear George:

Happy correction to a previously sent memo.

In describing how warmly people greeted me when I handed them voter registration forms, I erroneously stated I appeared to be the only person engaged in this task. That's a highly dubious claim, it now seems. As I reach a larger audience in my distribution activities, I have learned many churches are also engaged in voter registration work in the Afro community.

The best news, though, is the Miami Herald-St. Petersburg Times poll today showed Kerry holds a 49-43 lead over President Bush among Florida voters. Nader had three percent. If this pattern holds, Kerry could crush Bush in November. Since Republicans can read the polls, look for the Republican convention to urge Bush to dump his vice president and replace him with someone who can help the ticket.

At present, Bush pretty much will be campaigning alone. Cheney, given his Halliburton connection and heart problems that may limit his campaigning, will only drag Bush down further. Imagine Bush pitted against both Kerry and Edwards, for example. The Democrats can reach twice as many voters in person. Even if Bush claims he's loyal and don't wanna dump, there may be a "groundswell" from the GOPers in New York as they fight for a better ticket to help them get four more years of fiscal insanity, war, and social strife.
