George, Having just returned from the state Democratic convention in Roanoke I wanted to let you and your readers know how inspiring it was to be there, to be a part of the process of getting Bush out of office and back to Texas. It was my first time as a delegate and so I didn't know what to expect but it was everything I thought it would be. Max Cleland is truly an American hero. Tim Kaine and Creigh Deeds made me feel hopeful for a more democratic Virginia. I met union members from all over the state and elected many to go to Boston. I plan on working hard for Mr. Kaine and Mr. Deeds on their campaigns in the next year if they need me and SUUVA. It would be an honor. Plus, we really need to take back seats in the legislature and send the VA Republicans home for good. I urge everyone to be a delegate sometime in their lives. It was a great experience. It also made me realize even more that if we don't take back the White House in November we will be living in an America we won't even recognize in four years. This is the most important election in our lifetime. John Kerry is coming to Virginia to put our state into "play". I hope we can make VA a democratic state again for the first time in 40 years. I believe it can and will be done. Jan Cornell (electronic mail, June 6, 2004)
