Dear George, After reading VA Antes Up for Kerry, I once again realize, you have to be RICH to meet a presidential candidate in Virginia. But yet he wants--and needs--us "regular" people's votes. Funny how that works. And I wonder with this 1.7M does this put Virginia into "play"? Is the DNC going to put any resources into Virginia this election, except for ads? Would I have to travel to Richmond to work on Kerry's campaign or is there something going on here in C'Ville? Any chance of Kerry showing up in Virginia-- NOT Northern VA--for a good old regular people FREE rally??? I wonder. I find it all disheartening. And I am not thrilled with the platform either. Any regular voters get a chance at putting in their $.02 for that either? I sure don't remember any input being asked for at the state Democratic convention. I am finding it difficult to be a good Democrat in Virginia. It is DEFINITELY run by the good ole boys--and a few good ole girls. If you are not in the clique or on the "slate" hey you lose and don't know what is going on. I wasn't even aware of the Democratic breakfast here the other Saturday. Not good. -- Jan Cornell (Electronic mail, July 19, 2004) "I do not allow myself to be overcome by hopelessness, no matter
how tough the situation. I believe that if you just do your little bit without
thinking of the bigness of what you stand against, if you turn to the enlargement
of your own capacities, just that in itself creates new potential."
