"This week HJ112 was killed in the House Rules Committee. This resolution simply urged legislators to go on a “welfare diet” for two weeks in October. During this period we would be limited to the same food budget as an individual on food stamps. Living on a “welfare diet” for two weeks is not going to solve the problem of people living in poverty. But by walking in their shoes we may find ourselves looking harder for ways to eliminate these conditions.
