An update on Al Sharpton -- according to an article in the Village Voice, sent to me by a friend, the Republican cynicism regarding Sharpton extends beyond just voting for him for fun. It seems they're financing his entire campaign.

And, the Atlantic Weekly this week reports on the candidates' spending on lodgings. Sharpton comes in first, with an average bill of $3,598 (he stays at the Four Seasons) while Dean comes in last -- average bill $172. Not even Bush spends as much as Sharpton -- his average hotel bill is only $607, at the Hilton. Kucinich & Edwards give their patronage to the Holiday Inn ($288 and 238, respectively) while Kerry is next most frugal after Dean, at $202.
