George, There are major differences in the presentations that some candidates are making at public forums. Some say, "vote for me because my family has lived here for 200 years" or "consider the accomplishments of my family". I favor those that say, " vote for me because what I have done, my relevant accomplishments." When one compares actual first hand relevant experience it becomes obvious that Eric Strucko is the Albemarle County Supervisor we need representing the Whitehall District. William Abbott, Ph.D (electronic mail, October 18, 2003) George, With over 30 years of service in education (13 in Albemarle County Schools) I have worked with students from Kindergarten to graduate school. I have learned a great deal about the needs of public school students and the role of the school board in meeting those needs. It is very clear to me that Louise Ward is the most qualified candidate for the Whitehall school board position. While her opponent has taught college students at Pat Robertson's Regent University, Louise was a substitute teacher, reading tutor, Motheread/Fatheread instructor, band parent, and host for foreign exchange students. She also served on PTO's, Literacy For All committees and school building committees in Albemarle County. She received an award for 7 years of Outstanding Service for her help with the WAHS Literacy Program with the notation "you hold the record for volunteering the longest." All of this was done while she and her husband put their own children through Albemarle County schools. There is absolutely no comparison between the challenge of facing all attitudes and teaching all ages in the public schools as opposed to teaching in the environment of a small, private, religious college. When one looks at Louise Ward's direct, ongoing 20-year involvement with public school children of all ages it becomes obvious that we need her on the Albemarle County School Board. William Abbott, Ph.D. (electronic mail, October 18, 2003)
