George,

I read and agreed with Rich Collins. What really bothers me is that two Democratic councilors who are supposed to be protecting our environment, our parks, and our schools aren't looking out for the best interests of the residents of Charlottesville. Who will the Meadowcreek Bypass help?

1) Developers
2) Downtown Business owners
3) Residents of Albemarle County.

It isn't going to help me any. It will just make it more difficult for me to get around town. It might briefly help the folks on Park Street but there are other ways to solve that problem.

I have pretty much given up on state and national politics other than voting. When Democrats for change came around I got really excited and involved and thought maybe I could at least do something at the local level. We were able to elect Kevin Lynch who is the one councilor who is really looking out for the citizens of Charlottesville. Then I read about trying to get the Meadowcreek project through by shady tactics it makes me sick.

The other interesting thing is that Richards was strongly opposed to the Western Bypass though she supports destroying McIntire Park. There are more people living in Albemarle County and it looks like she was trying to win votes in her race against Virgil Goode or for her next run at higher office.
