George, Here's my response to the government's suggestion of duct tape and plastic sheeting: we should create bumper stickers that say "tax breaks for millionaires, duct tape for the rest of us." It's not the duct tape per se, it's the fact (now being brought out by national Dems), that Bush has steadfastly refused to provide the funds to local governments that they desperately need to be prepared for the next attack, funds he promised in the aftermath of 9/11. It's outrageous that we're going to spend $100 billion or more to make war on Iraq, which poses less threat than Pakistan and N. Korea, and won't spend $5 billion to protect ourselves at home. If the next Dem. candidate for president doesn't make this a big issue, he's making big mistake. Russ Linden (electronic mail, February 16, 2003)
