George, Other than just Bush-bashing, what in the world is Lloyd Snook talking about? The Council on Foreign Relations sponsored the Independent Task Force on Post-Conflict Iraq which, on March 12, 2003 recommended that "President Bush Should 'Stay the Course' in Postwar Iraq to Ensure Battlefield Victory is not Lost". "The President should "make clear to the Congress, to the American people, and to the people of Iraq that the United States will stay the course" after a war in Iraq, concludes the Council-sponsored Independent Task Force, Iraq: the Day After. Post-war stabilization and reconstruction could cost up to $20 billion a year for several years, and American public support is critical to sustaining that commitment." The United States is powerful enough, organized enough and run by professionals (be they Democrat or Republican), that we can handle more than one issue at a time (ie. Israel/Palestine). We therefore, do not need to take Mr. Snook's advice to 'get out quickly'. I can also guarantee that President Bush, his advisors and government agencies have just as much ability, if not more to tap resources such as the Council on Foreign Relations as Mr. Snook does. Due to President Bush's popularity and his effective strategy on the
war on terrorism, Democrats are on a grassroots smear-campaign, which The Democrat script is all from a giant playbook from which they all read - and the same line comes out of their collective mouth's nationwide at the same time - it's almost funny when you flip through the news channels and ten people, who have never met each other, on ten different news programs all say the exact same thing word for word... ... and how many times do Democrats have to hear that we ARE NOT OCCUPIERS OF IRAQ, before they will understand that we are not occupiers of Iraq? - Will Lyster (electronic mail, April 26, 2003)
