George, Where are the representatives of our American Democracy? They are letting an incompetent, non-elected, appointed individual who resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue prepare to take this country to war! Regardless the US is largely to blame for the very existence of Saddam Hussein. The fact that he has suddenly become a more menacing "bad guy" than last year's favorites, Osama bin Laden and Omar "Somebody", Congress doesn't seem to asking "why"? No other nation, save Great Britain, seems to understand the logic of Bush. Members of the military, former ranking members of previous administrations, familiar with Saddam and Iraq, question the reasoning and warn of the very real dangers. No matter, Bush lowers his head and says,"full speed ahead, you fooled us once!" Clearly, Bush sees this as a timely diversion from his many difficulties,
both personally, with his Harken Oil scam and his domestic policies that
seem only He has gutted virtually every program and policy that benefits the overall quality of life and living for the nation. It is difficult to go a single day without reading that this "administration" has found something else on which they can turn their back. Today, I read where we are choosing to ignore any further involvement

the The list is endless from trashing the Kyoto Protocol to his Attorney General trashing the basic guarantees of our Constitution, Bush and his Gang are violating the basic tenets of our Democracy! Now, he plans to hoodwink both the Congress and the American people with his Oedipal obsession with Iraq, taking the focus off his dismal attempt at leadership, his culpability in the 9/11 tragedy, the hypocrisy in his role as a director of Harken Oil, the negative direction of the American economy. His concern, three to four days a week focus on the next election in an effort to get an even more compliant congress and to increase his chances in 2004. No consideration of the aftermath of an Iraqi invasion, little, if any
consideration, of the possible cost in lives or the horrendous cost of the
military campaign. The theory, like his father and Mr. Reagan...is, "lay
off the cost to those who come later. I won't be around to worry."
The American And our wimpy Congress will read the polls and go along! Harry Tenny (electronic mail, September 19, 2002)
