George,

I do not have a concealed weapons permit.

The city's policy on workplace violence seems entirely reasonable to me, though I must admit that I have never read a policy on workplace violence before, so I don't have anything to compare it to.

Workplace violence should be as much of a concern to us as any other theoretical threat, which is why we have policies such as the city's in place.

Karen Darner's HB 132 is entirely agreeable to me, as is any bill that provides more power to localities. I believe that our government's power comes from the bottom up. Generally, the more options that localities have -- as regards gun control or otherwise -- the happier that I am.

Best,

Waldo Jaquith (electronic mail, January 14, 2002).
