George,

Leo Daugherty objects to the generally low level of quality exhibited in the visual arts around here.

Years ago Theodore Sturgeon wrote a monthly books column reviewing science fiction. Time Magazine had "discovered" that the genre was hot, and a feature article provided an overview, in which the statement was made that 90% of the sci-fi published was trash.

Sturgeon, one of the greatest writers associated with the field and among the first to use psychological deviance to drive plot, pilloried the ignorant attack. Said Ted, "Of course 90% of it is crap. Ninety percent of everything is crap!"
