Dear City Democrats: We are writing you on behalf of Joan Fenton. We hope that you will join us in supporting her on February 23rd for the Democratic Nomination for City Council. Joan has dedicated herself to the betterment of the Charlottesville community for over ten years. She is a very successful business woman who started her business over twenty years ago. She started Quilts Unlimited by selling crafts out of her home that were made by local artisans. She has grown that into seven retail shops. Joan knows how to balance a budget, meet payroll and plan during times of prosperity and recession. Joan has been a long time supporter of women's causes and is a former PTO president. She currently chairs the Board of Architectural Review and the Downtown Business Association. She helped found the Downtown Property Owner's Council, Downtown for the Holidays, and The Dogwood Blues Festival. She also sits on the committee to re-design the Downtown Mall, Charlottesville's zoning steering committee, and the Court Square Enhancement Steering Committee. Charlottesville needs leaders who are skillful at bringing consensus,
committed to open dialogue with the community, and able to listen and respect
divergent opinions. Charlottesville needs leaders with innovative ideas,
the expertise needed for increasing revenue, and the ability to bring We support Joan because she has proven her dedication to the educational needs of our community and has shown a commitment to keeping education on the front burner. Joan Fenton is dedicated to preserving the Jefferson School and it's centralized pre-school program. We believe Joan Fenton has the experience, the commitment and the knowledge to solve some of our most pressing problems.
