George,

I have chosen not to endorse any candidates for the City Council election. I personally feel that this gives me the greatest strength as a clearly impartial steward of the process. My Co-Chair, Lloyd Snook, has come to a different conclusion and I respect his assessment as well.

I do feel compelled to weigh in on the sudden and surprising rumor about Alex Searls' intentions. It has been anonymously alleged that she is going to throw her votes to David Simmons at the convention. Alex denies this and I believe her. Those of us who have worked with Alex in the party would have to see this as completely out of character. Alex has always been candid and above board with me and feels passionately about her candidacy.

That she has worked closely and effectively with David over the past year as the Co-Chairs of the Recreation Precinct is well-known and appreciated by many of us. That this indicates some cabal does a disservice to both of them, two committed Democrats.

On a related note. I am proud of all of our candidates and the way that they have run their campaigns. I will be pleased to actively support any pair of them who get the nod at the convention.

I will see everyone on Saturday - doors close at 10 am. Be on time if you wish to participate.
