Last month, we learned that the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality was considering allowing elevated levels of fecal bacteria in some streams.

So I asked my readers which Virginia streams they thought most appropriate for elevated levels of fecal bacteria.

Ellen Dudley writes (electronic mail, May 31, 2001):

"Only those streams that run through the properties of Gilmore, Allen & Co. (Only kidding, since of course others who weren't responsible for Virginia's priorities choices would also live along those same streams.)"

Please send your nominations to george@loper.org where they will be placed on my website with full attribution.
