George,

I had a great Labor Day weekend. On the 3rd I went to the Harrisonburg/Rockingham Dems Dinner. Chuck Robb and Mark Warner spoke. John Edwards and I along with Criegh Deeds and Alan Diamonstien also spoke. The reception I received was a warm one. There are many great Democrats there ready to win in 2000 and 2001.

On the 4th I drove to Buena Vista for breakfast. Again the same group spoke. I found the Buena Vista Dems to be equally enthused about 2000. A number of individuals were kind enough to offer me their support in 2001.

Alan and I then headed east (separately) to Bobby Scotts event. I think Creigh went to Covington. I am not sure where John went. I would not see him again until Abingdon. Chuck spoke at Bobby's picnic (which was moved indoors because of the rain) and spoke. Bobby introduced the 2001 candidates in attendance-myself, Alan, Jerrauld, Tim Kaine and Mark.

Then I flew to Abingdon for Acers of Democrats. Alan was there, John Edwards, Chuck Robb, John Tate, Joe Johnson, Mark Warner and others.

All and all an exciting weekend. I see a lot of enthusiasm for Chuck and I was thrilled to pick up supporters at each event.
