Letter to the Editor of C-Ville Weekly To the Editor: On p. 19 of the April 4th C-VILLE you say that Democrats for Change think that Meredith Richards is "Public Enemy #1" and if she wins in May, "it'll be over their dead bodies." You are dead wrong. Your conclusions were made without quoting anyone. You certainly did not get these views from the leaders of Democrats for Change. Yes, candidates running on the Democrats for Change platform did compete with Meredith Richards and other Democrats for the three Democratic party nominations. Competition within the party is normal and healthy, and is one of the reasons the Democrats have had a consistent field of quality candidates over the past thirty years. However, once the party has chosen its nominees, the competition is over and all sides join together to work for all nominees. After the Democratic party Convention this year, activists from Democrats for Change joined with other party activists and are working together to ensure that all three Democratic party candidates win. You do the community a great disservice when your presentation of "information" about the candidates is not based on fact. David RePass, Maurice Cox, Kevin Lynch (electronic mail, April 5,
2000).
