"FARMVILLE
- The Fifth Congressional District Democratic Committee will hold a District
Convention on May 20, 2000 located at Rustburg High School, 1671 Village
Highway, Rustburg, VA. The agenda includes the selection of five delegates
and one alternate to the Democratic National Convention and to nominate
a candidate for the United States House of Representatives" (Robin
Gardner, electronic mail, March 27, 2000).
"Virginia will be allotted 99 delegates and 13 alternates to the
2000 Democratic National Convention that will be held in Los Angeles, August
14 -17. The Virginia Delegate Selection Plan calls for the election of delegates
by a three-step process, with the first step being city and county caucuses
in each locality in the state on either April 15 or 17. Delegates
elected at these local caucuses will then select Fifth Congressional District
delegates at the May 20th convention. The final step will conclude with
the State Convention, June 2 - 3, Norfolk Scope, Norfolk, VA.
If you are interested in becoming a delegate, you can contact your local
democratic committee chairperson or the State Party Headquarters at (804)
644-1966 ext. 227 for additional information" (Robin Gardner, electronic
mail, March 27, 2000).
