"Stephen Bassett, a Bethesda, MD, physicist who believes that the
government is withholding classified evidence of extraterrestrial explorations
of the earth, is forming a political action committee (PAC) to finance citizen
demands to force full disclosure of data on unidentified flying objects
(UFOs)" (The Washington Spectator, Vol. 25, No. 16, September 1,
1999).
"Bassett's Extraterrestrial Phenomenon Political Action Committee
(X-PPAC) is registered with the Federal Election Commission. It isn't yet
making campaign contributions to Congressional candidates. It wants Congress
to grant immunity from prosecution to the 'dozens of government scientists'
it says have access to classified UFO information and who can then make
