To the Editor:

"'If the Horizon Institute's watchdog committee finds that Ed Wayland's statements are literally true, what is the purpose of issuing an opinion characterizing them as misleading?'"

"'This sort of dialogue between opposing candidates is exactly what is required in a representative democracy. While it may be true that the intent of the legislation may not have been to eliminate guidance counselors and family life education, it is surely the duty of a legislator to consider all possible consequences of proposed bills before casting a vote. Mr. Harris must take responsibility for the outcome of his votes. '"

"'Both sides have legitimate concerns on these two issues, and each argument should be judged by the voters. I respectfully suggest that The Horizon Institute would better serve the public by adding information to the public dialogue, to better inform the voters, rather than judging for the voters.'"
