George,

I struggle to understand the culture that views Confederate soldiers and sympathizers as misguided, or perhaps passionate about their southern roots.

Many families have ancestors who were fascists, slave holders, Nazis, murderers, KKK members, etc. I can understand them trying to find good in their ancestors, no matter the stretch, but HEROES ... I do not get that.

The only Confederate heroes were those who betrayed the Confederate cause, and to help end slavery. I think the better lessons for our community, and children in particular, is to speak the truth about the horrors in our history, get rid of soldiers on horses and honor the victims.
